This site is like a PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) for the Internet. There is a searchable database for drugs--search by generic or trade name. When your drug is found, you will also have links to articles that have been written about your drug.

Parenthood Web

This is a useful parenting site. It takes you through all the stages--pregnancy, babies, terrible twos, threes, fours, fives, ect. and of course the teen years. Lots of links to resources are provided for all stages.

Classmates

This site attempts to bring classmates back together. I didn't find any classmates that I knew but I had fun looking. I will go back and check their listings periodically. If I find some names I know, I will probably register.

Zip2Home Page

Head on over to the Zip2Home Page for a searchable database of businesses around the country. You can search by name, category, city and state. When you find the business, this site will generate a map for you. Now you can find all the shoe stores in Miami and how to get to them.

The Bad Science Page

This page has scientific explanations for some science stuff that may have been wrongly explained by teachers, the media etc. I found lots of interesting information. One link that I particularly enjoyed was the Bad Astronomy Web Page. Make sure you take a look.

The Why Files

The Why Files, a project of the National Institute for Science Education, is an electronic exploration of the science behind the news. Twice a month, They will bring you a new feature on the science (and math, engineering, and technology) of everyday life. This was a fascinating place to visit and I learned a lot.

This site pays tribute to one of the most beautiful places in the United States. You can see some great photos of the mountain and read all about the history of Mount Washington.

Preview Travel

This site has all kinds of useful travel information. You can search for the lowest airfare and book airline tickets. Vacation packages, car rentals and hotel accommodations are also available. You can also put together a destination package including local attractions and restaurants.

Total Yellowstone

This is a fantastic guide to a wonderful park. I haven't been able to get there personally but my sister worked there for several years and she has told me so much about it. I have explored the park on several different sites but I this is the best I have seen. There is a wealth of information to be had here. The Waterfalls Page is exceptional. If you are planning a trip to Yellowstone, this is a must stop. If you have always wanted to go there (like me), you can get a great sense of what this park is like. If you are interested in other national parks, check out the official National Parks site.

This is the online version of the classic textbook by William Strunk Jr. The book is about proper usage of the English language. It is a very useful reference when it comes to writing. I use it to refresh my memory about using proper English while writing my web page.

Here's another useful site that I found through Tourbus. For you newbies out there, FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. This site is a source for many FAQs. It comes complete with a search engine to find out if there is a FAQ about your favorite subject.

Information Please

This is a wonderful online information service. It is an almanac, encyclopedia and dictionary all rolled into one. There is a useful search engine or you can just browse. Great site for school projects.

Study Web

This is a wonderful place to begin research on a variety of subjects. The sites are sorted into categories. It is easier to browse these categories than to use their search engine. The linked sites are rated with a grading system. This system uses the traditional grade system of US schools; example: 11+ would be appropriate for those who have completed 11th grade or higher. The links are also rated for content. One apple is lowest and four apples is highest.
